My Drawer of You

My love, as always

It says

Inscribed on the heart-shaped pendant

Hanging from the silver bracelet

You left behind

I gave it to you to keep forever

You hurled it at me through the swirling rages

Left it, neglected, on the floor

In the dust and dirt

That lazily accumulated beside our bed

It lies coiled up, now, in my drawer of you

Polished and glittering

With all the pictures and misty, tear-stained memories

Of those many chrysalis years with you

I stare at it late at night sometimes

I wonder where your new wings have delivered you:

My love, as always

And God only knows

I still love you.
